on “Ask HN: How to self-learn electronics?” ↗All of Forrest M. Mims III books are a treasure trove of electric & electronics learning, in a very simple way. For starters, get the "Getting Started in Electronics" , and any of his "Engineer's Mini-Notebook" series.

It has that “wow” factor, but as I kid I think I moved on to breadboards pretty quickly. That, and we had a bunch of Engineer’s Mini-Notebook by Forrest Mims III. These kits are very cool but I remember that it felt a little more like paint-by-numbers.
on “Electronic project kits: hands on with a vintage 160-in-1 (2016)” ↗I still have the Forrest Mims III Radio Shack "555 Engineer's Mini-Notebook" somewhere in my basement. And rumor has it that Sammy Hagar can't drive 555 because his car just isn't fast enough!
