> I had a little difficulty getting back into Persepolis Rising for some reason. I can see that. It's a bit of a reset (without giving away the plot) but it sets up 8 extremely well, which was a great book. I'm really excited to see how they wrap up the 9th and final.
on “How The Expanse went from game concept to blockbuster TV series” ↗Absolutely! Persepolis Rising was amazing though. I am hoping the next book will be similar.
on “Moons of all the planets in our solar system” ↗I had begun the 7th Expanse book, Persepolis Rising, but got distracted by a copy of Joseph Conrad's Victory I found lying around, so I'm half way through that. on “Ask HN: What are you reading?” ↗This sounds like the plot of Persepolis Rising... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28335696-persepolis-risi...

However, as the show hasn't been greenlit for further adaptations, I have been debating if I should just follow through with Persepolis Rising and the remaining books or start from scratch including all the novellas.
on “Ask HN: What are your favorite sci-fi books?” ↗After reading "Persepolis Rising" and getting a heavy dose of what propaganda and pacifying messaging from authorities, this reads like it's from that book. Make sure to mention how easy, super not-inconvenient it is. Include some initial…
on “US Citizens Will Need Visa to Travel to Europe in 2024” ↗The exact numbers in the books are often inconsistent. In Persepolis Rising, the forces that surround the Tempest form a bubble almost three light seconds across. And railgun rounds take less than a minute to reach the center. My overall impression from the books was that the…
