Why HN recommends it
A short, free summary of Eric Evans' Domain-Driven Design, covering its core concepts. It serves as a lighter introduction for those who find the original book too long.

…the Heart of Software. The book is quite dry and, in the small, it seems to describe nothing new, but by the end it was quite deep. For impatient readers, I recommend Abel Avram and Floyd Marinescu's Domain-Driven Design Quickly, available as a free PDF: http://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly
on “Rob Pike on Object Oriented programming” ↗…Domain-Driven Design mentioned. As DHH said it's a bit of a slog - but worthwhile. For those who want a good overview and don't fancy the slog I'd recommend taking a look at http://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly - a 100 page summary of the book from InfoQ. The original is definitely worth a read - the summary might let you see why it's worth the effort ;-)
on “The Programming Books That Meant The Most To Me” ↗This may be a non-answer answer, but given you are versed on the Phoenix front, may I suggest a book on the design aspect of things? For example, Domain Driven Design Quickly: https://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly... It has been a while since I have read it, so it may be dated, but hopefully others can provide suggestions too!
on “10 years-ish of Elixir” ↗Reading Eric Evan's DDD book was an epiphany for me. A less ambitious introduction to DDD is InfoQ's Domain Driven Design Quickly. It's available as a free ebook, too: http://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly
on “Architectures that will inspire your programming” ↗The Domain-Driven Design book is awesome, but a bit heavy. InfoQ published a nice introductory book called "Domain Driven Design Quickly". A free PDF is available, too: http://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly
on “Domain Driven Design When Surrounded by Legacy Development (2013) [pdf]” ↗…Tackling Complexity in the Heart of Software" (2003) mentioned on this page. It is a bit of slog, but worth it. Or for a quick introduction to domain-driven design, check out the (free download) of "Domain Driven Design Quickly" e-book from InfoQ: https://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly
on “Domain Storytelling: A DDD tool to visualize domain stories in the browser” ↗Read in order: 1. Anatomy of Domain-Driven Design, S. Millett 2. Domain Driven Design quickly, InnoQ 3. Implementing Domain Driven Design, V. Vernon
on “I finally escaped Node” ↗I like DDD quickly, which is a mini book with a lot of similar concepts around microservices ( but in a monolith) https://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly...
on “Ask HN: Any place which aggregates a good TLDR of various software concepts” ↗“Domain-Driven Design Quickly” is a nice introduction to DDD concepts and patterns. The book is available free online. Much more accessible than Eric Evans’ (great but dense!) book. https://www.infoq.com/minibooks/domain-driven-design-quickly...
