This is for older children, twelve and above I'd say, but I think the Alice books (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There) are great. Then they (and you) can read The Annotated Alice by Martin Gardner, which opened up entirely new levels of the stories to me. For younger children, I'd say The Wind in the Willows.

Nope, wrong bit of slightly-surreal children's literature. Through the Looking-Glass and what Alice Found There by C L Dodgson, otherwise known as Lewis Carroll.

It's also the name of a game studio with a number of neat titles, some rock band, and perhaps most importantly, sequel to Alice in wonderland: Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There All of which were probably referring to the same concept: viewing the other side of reality

…be saying 'we can call it pass-by-reference if we use a special definition of the term when speaking about Java.' "A word means what I want it to mean, nothing more, nothing less." - Humpty Dumpty, 'Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There'. There should be a variant of Occam's Razor specifically against unnecessary semantic splitting and proliferation.

Instructions unclear, reread Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There.
