I haven’t done it myself so I can’t speak from experience, but Rob Walling’s book “The SaaS Playbook” has a whole chapter on hiring and building a team. I found it insightful. The whole thing is a quick read/listen and I thought it was worth my time.
on “Ask HN: As a first-time solopreneur how would you go about hiring the first team” ↗I recommend The SaaS Playbook: Build a Multimillion Dollar Startup Without Venture Capital by Rob Walling.
on “Ask HN: Books about sales for indie hackers and small SaaS businesses” ↗…than a dollar. Traction by Gabriel Weinberg is the best resource I've found here so far. For a good overview of the whole system of building profitable SaaS businesses I've recently really enjoyed The SaaS Playbook by Rob Walling.
on “Show HN: After 2 months my project management software is finally finished” ↗I’ll second this advice, and add that he recently released a new book, “The SaaS Playbook”. It has a lot of concrete advice for the kinds of issues OP is asking about. Never met Rob and not getting anything out of the recommendation; I just really enjoyed the book.
on “Ask HN: Tips for Solopreneur?” ↗The Saas Playbook! Also includes a lot of good references for further reading

The author's credentials are there. I have personally used Drip and…

on “Ask HN: I desperately want a solo business” ↗…way, absolutely, but it's not the easiest and it's tricky if you need a regular income. But even if you try and it doesn't work out 100%, you still learn a ton. Rob has a new book out, by the way, "The SaaS Playbook". Haven't read it yet, so not sure how it is, but "Start Small, Stay Small" is one of the best business books I've ever read because he went out on a limb with real, practical advice rather than handwavy…
