…the year and have been doing lots of research into these things. In a nutshell, not all calories are the same the some can wreak havoc on your system (grains, it turns out, aren't that good for us). The Paleo Solution, by Robb Wolf, is another great book - he goes to great lengths to discuss the science and biochemistry behind the points he is making. Highly recommend.

For a more rational book, try Robb Wolf's "The Paleo Solution", which also has an extensive chapter on sleep and cortisol management.

on “Ask HN: which are some good self-help books?” ↗I highly recommend The Paleo Solution. Without any doubt I can say it has radically changed my life for the better. Robb Wolf's podcasts are also packed with great information if you haven't dug into those yet.

on “Tired of Being Tired” ↗Definitely. However, that doesn't mean he is wrong. For more actual evidence of this stuff, The Eades' book `Protein Power'[1] and Robb Wolf's book `The Paleo Solution'[2] offer some pretty compelling evidence of how grains and related foods are detrimental to our health (among other topics). I, too, am a Paleo success story, having gone from 210 to 185 in 2 months,…

on “Ask HN: What are you reading right now?” ↗There's an article, incidentally, on Tim Fenriss' website www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2010/09/19/paleo-diet-solution/ it's a chapter of the book "The Paleo Solution" by Robb Wolf which basically answers the question "what is wrong with gluten".
on “NYT Review of ‘The 4-Hour Body’” ↗…I've added Crossfit and I think that's been more influential than my diet). My curiosity is about the notion that somehow Vegetarian style diets or even diets with grains is truly damaging. I read the Paleo Solution. I want to know how much is Robb Wolf just spreading his own bias around?
on “How I lost 30 lbs” ↗It probably shouldn't be referred to as Tim Ferris' "no grain" diet. The original post was Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution. The goal isn't to eat no grain. The goal is to eat no gluten. Grain just happens to contain gluten. It should probably be called No Gluten diet or refer to Robb Wolf instead since he wrote the book…
