…you get issues like Zyprexa's 2009 class action lawsuit, for example [3]. For those looking for a readable introduction to the potential link between chronic inflammation and depression, there is The Inflamed Mind by Edward Bullmore from 2018 which did some rounds on talk shows and the like. on “The cause of depression is probably not what you think” ↗…to track depressive symptoms against CRP levels in my blood but being depressed, lost interest... Joking aside, I also wasn't getting the blood tests with sufficient frequency for it to be useful. "The Inflamed Mind" by Edward Bullamore is a good read on the subject.
on “The ‘psychobiome': the gut bacteria that may alter how you think, feel, act” ↗Seconding you're point on SSRIs. I'm currently reading Ed Bullmore's Inflamed Mind, and he makes the point forcefully that there's no way of measuring SSRI levels in regular clinical practice, they way blood pressue, cholosterol or white/red blood cell levels are tested.
on “Some people who take psychedelics continue hallucinating indefinitely” ↗No idea if this is nextos's thing, but there's evidence for inflammation as a root cause of depression. cf Bullmore, the Inflamed Mind.
