"The funny and fascinating memoir of Bythell's experiences at the helm of The Bookshop, Scotland's largest second hand bookstore--and the delightfully unusual staff members, eccentric customers, odd townsfolk and surreal buying trips that make up his life there"--

The chap who runs the biggest bookshop in Wigtown is a funny character who's written a hugely enjoyable book called "The Diary of a Bookseller" about the ins and outs of running such a book shop. A way to get rich it is not.
on “The mild anarchy of piles of second-hand books” ↗I've noticed a few people here saying they wanted to read about the experience of owning a book store. I can strongly recommend "The Diary of a Bookseller" by Shaun Bythell after ending up at his very eclectic book shop in the middle of nowhere in Scotland and discovering he's actually a fantastic diarist too. on “Lessons from Owning a Bookstore” ↗I've just finished The Coming of Neo-Feudalism: A Warning to the Global Middle Class by Joel Kotkin and I share many of its worries. On a more light hearted side The Diary Of A Bookseller (Shaun Bythell) A Factotum in the Book Trade (Shaun Bythell) Children of Hurin (Tolkien)
