Forrest Mims III taught me electronics as a teenager. Also Larry Gonick really rounded out my rusty calculus knowledge with his "Cartoon Guide to Calculus" [0] This is just the product page, no stupid referral on the link. [0] https://www.amazon.com/Cartoon-Guide-Calculus/dp/0061689092
on “Show HN: A coloring book of data structures and algorithms” ↗Pretty good. I think Larry Gornick's The Cartoon Guide to Calculus[0] is better. Has a lot of narrative elements as well. [0] http://www.amazon.com/Cartoon-Guide-Calculus-Guides/dp/00616...
on “Calculus with pics and gifs” ↗Specifically with calculus, I found "The Cartoon Guide to Calculus" by Larry Gonick [0] to be quite memorable and fun! Note: There is no stupid referral on this link. [0] https://www.amazon.com/Cartoon-Guide-Calculus/dp/0061689092
on “Show HN: A coloring book of data structures and algorithms” ↗I love Gonick's books! I have his Cartoon Guide to Calculus, Modern History, and US History too! His bibliographies at the back of the books would make for excellent syllabuses
on “The Manga Guide Series” ↗If you want to try a hardcopy book, a mathematician friend of mine suggested "The Cartoon Guide To Calculus" which is available very cheaply on Amazon. Her recommendation has helped me immensely to learn calculus.
on “Calculus Learning Guide” ↗…would be a good book in a year or two. For now, if I can introduce basic concepts like slopes, derivatives, limits, and similar, simply and intuitively, that would be ideal. Thus far, my favorite is Cartoon Guide to Calculus.
