Have a look at test driven development for embedded C by James Grenning for a viewpoint of how TDD might work in the embedded world. I found it to be a great resource. http://pragprog.com/book/jgade/test-driven-development-for-e...

"Test-Driven Development for Embedded C" by James W. Grenning. https://pragprog.com/book/jgade/test-driven-development-for-... It's very well written and I've used the unit testing approaches described there in several projects.

I really enjoy CppUTest. It was written by James Grenning who is one brilliant engineer if you ask me. He also wrote the fantastic book "Test Driven Development for Embedded C" which I would highly recommend to anyone, even non-embedded developers. I used CppUTest on a c++ project to test algorithms for image and video manipulation. It worked fantastically, very easy to learn,…

…recommend the video courses taught by the guys at ThrowTheSwitch.org (the authors of Unity/CMock/Ceedling). See https://www.throwtheswitch.org/dr-surlys-school I read and enjoyed James Grenning's book, Test Driven Development for Embedded C, but it didn't really click for me until I took the video courses mentioned above. In the second course, you code an entire simple but realistic embedded project in TDD fashion.

…and low level code, well, always. There is a great work on this by Grenning, worth reading by anyone who wants to understand TDD better, whether it is for embedded C or any other type of application. …the concepts) I may also recommend SICP, CTM, The Art of Multiprocessor Programming, The Joy of Clojure, the OReilly book on Intel Threading Building Blocks, Reversing: Secrets of Reverse Engineering, Test Driven Development for Embedded C and others in certain situations but the above list is a general list I would recommend regardless of the persons proficiency level or programming interests.

Very useful C testing library that our embedded developers use along with the principles and methods described in the book 'Test-Driven Development for Embedded C': https://pragprog.com/titles/jgade/test-driven-development-fo...

Can any more experienced C developers give an opinion on the author/contents of this book? I'm a Python/Julia developer starting to learn C. I have K&R already, and Test Driven Development for Embedded C (Grenning). I did order 'Modern C' by Gustedt but the publisher never delivered to Waterstones so they had to cancel the order (about 6 months ago, book still unavailable from Waterstones as of today).
