The witch and her cat couldn't be happier, flying through the sky on their broomstick -- until the witch drops her hat, then her bow, then her wand! Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items and all they want in return is a ride on the broomstick. But is there room on the broom for so many new friends? And when disaster strikes, will they be able to save the witch from the clutches of a hungry dragon? From the acclaimed creators of The Gruffalo, this enchanting story of quick wits and friendship is full of humor and adventure -- and just the right amount of spookiness. - Publisher.

…the results for age 5: https://shepherd.com/bookshelf/kids?ages=29&order=newest_boo... (You can sort and zero in a ton of different ways). Personally, my son loved the Box Car Children (audiobook), Room on the Broom and Anything by Julia Donaldson, Where the Sidewalk Ends, the Dory Fantasmagory series (so funny), and a lot of others. Hope that helps!
on “Ask HN: What are some great books for teaching reading to kids under 5?” ↗…because they promote really positive messages. But man, the verse is really clumsy and poor in some areas. Not stellar writing. To add to your list: anything by Julia Donaldson. The Gruffalo, Super Worm, Room on the Broom, the Whale and the Snail. Perennial favs when my kids were 3-5
