Why HN recommends it
Accessible science fiction suited to newcomers to the genre or anyone wanting quick, engaging reads. It is a good place to start with Asimov, and its stories are easy to finish in a sitting.

on “Ask HN: What are your favorite sci-fi books?” ↗…something but as a reference if you want to verify something as the old Encyclopedias we used to use. To just fill the hours, I would suggest some nice book, even better good series, like Foundation and Robot Series by Isaac Asimov, A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) by George R.R. Martin etc.. With those I think those 5 weeks will fly..
on “Ask HN: What should I save for offline reading during 5 weeks without Internet?” ↗Most of Asimov's books, specially: * Foundation Series / Robot Series / Empire Series * The Gods Themselves
on “What are your favourite sci-fi books?” ↗Isaac Asimov is a must read for people who love Sci-Fi. Some of his books I loved: The Robot Series (The Caves of Steel, The Robots of Dawn etc.), The Foundation Series, Nemesis, the list goes on ...
on “Ask HN: Which book are you reading these days?” ↗given your interest in tech and not being used to fiction maybe try some science fiction short stories? I have gone in a kind of a strange order, first reading The Complete Robot, then the Foundation Series, the Empire Series, and now the Robot Series. I have enjoyed them all, I like Asimov's style.…
on “Ask HN: What are you reading right now?” ↗I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much enjoyment out of the series (including the 2 sequels after the trilogy) if I hadn't read Asimov's Robot Series. I know that the whole "you don't get it because you haven't read these other books" thing is kind of cliché, but I really do think that the majority of the joy I got from Foundation was because of how…
