…the best practical material on the subject is Charlie Munger talks. Particularly his talk "On the psychology of human misjudgement" (https://buffettmungerwisdom.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/mung...) and "Poor Charlie's Almanack: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger", which is an edited collectoin of his many talks. My main conclusion from reading all the books/talks is that you could only be aware of the existence of the…

I highly recommend a dive into his mind via these two books: Seeking Wisdom: From Darwin to Munger = http://www.amazon.com/dp/1578644283 = a deep read, mostly focused on cognitive biases Poor Charlie's Almanack = http://www.amazon.com/dp/1578645018 = a big coffee table book of his speeches and essays, good for leaving on the kitchen table to read over a meal I think if you order the books directly from Charlie…

on “Charlie Munger on Getting Rich, Wisdom, Focus, Fake Knowledge and More” ↗Poor Charlie's Almanack. It's a compilation of talks and essays from Charlie Munger, Warren Buffet's business partner. on “Ask HN: What books have made the biggest impact on your mental models?” ↗…the PDF then, which is too bad since I much prefer paper versions. I've seen some used at around $300 USD indeed. That would make it the most expensive book I've ever bought I guess ! (currently it's "Poor Charlie's Almanack", by Charles T. Munger - I think I've paid something like 150$ some years ago. Best money ever spent !)

on “Ask HN: Any recommended books on developing mental models?” ↗…stretched quite a bit in recent years, but if I was a member, I would not state it in print. I think one of the best description of how/why AA works is by Charlie Munger (Warren Buffet's Partner) in his book "Poor Charlie's Almanack" He describes the various mental models that we humans use, and talks about how AA uses the "Lollapalooza Effect" to help alcoholics beat their addiction. One big issue with AA, as brought out…

on “The Story of Berkshire's Charlie Munger” ↗…unabashedly displays his intellect. It turns a few people off, but if you can get past the brashness, there's much to learn from his approach to thinking. I also recommend the two books (Seeking Wisdom & Poor Charlie's Almanack). The first is not only about Munger (and Buffett), but about other great thinkers like Darwin, Feynman, Einstein, Mark Twain. I also definitely recommend watching some of the few videos available of…
on “Charles Munger (of Berkshire Hathaway): Elementary Worldly Wisdom” ↗Agreed - Munger has been one of my very few heroes for a long time now. Poor Charlie's Almanack is a great read. Munger's concept of mental models is the basis for my book ("The Personal MBA"), which comes out in January. The project started because I was looking for a comprehensive treatment of…
