…Patchett - Left for Dead: Shipwreck, Treachery, and Survival at the End of the World by Eric Jay Dolin - All the Sinners Bleed by S A Cosby - Project Hail Mary and Artemis by Andy Weir - Cibola Burn and Nemesis Games by James S A Corey (the Expanse series)
on “Ask HN: What are you reading?” ↗https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemesis_Games There's some rock throwing in this latest book in the Expanse series. You'd want to read the earlier books beforehand though. (They are worth reading anyway.)
on “Scientists to nudge asteroid off course as practice for protecting Earth” ↗…just a 2d caricature. Equally, all of the schoolgirl romance stuff in Cibola Burn is removed. The rest of the books are pretty decent though I thought, so if you stopped at Cibola Burn I'd recommend Nemesis Games and the rest.

In the vacuum, she could make it maybe fifteen seconds unaided. Corey, James S.A.. Nemesis Games (The Expanse) (p. 425). Orbit. Kindle Edition.

Also working my way through SICP to see if it makes be a better front end dev. Results pending.
on “Ask HN: What are you reading?” ↗This reminds me of The Expanse (Nemesis Games). In the future (~2300s), they use an "expert system" to recreate images of stars obscured by dust clouds. It creates a "computational lens that couldn't exist in the physical world". In one instance,…
on “A Lens-Less Camera Built Specially for AI and Computer Vision Programs” ↗…might have switched between two books throughout my reading, but today I usually read one all the way through. I do want to read more. Here's what I finished last year: Books 2018: Cibola Burn Nemesis Games The Dictator's Handbook The Mythical Man Month Ready Player One The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays and 2019 so far: The Fountainhead Wrinkle in Time The Men who Stare at Goats…
on “Ask HN: How Do You Read?” ↗It's kinda how the books went too. Nemesis Games and so on were very much about the personal war between Holden and a certain other person.
