My first programming book was about GW-BASIC, it was red and very thick. But it was the second book that I bought that was the book that made me want to become a programmer: Mastering Turbo Assembler by Tom Swan http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Turbo-Assembler-Tom-Swan/dp/... My copy actually looks very similar to the one on Amazon. :)
on “What Was Your First Coding Book?” ↗I learned Assembly from a book called Mastering Turbo Assembler by a guy named Tom Swan. That was for DOS (early nineties). I'm definitely going to buy this book even if it's just for nostalgic reasons.
on “Assembly Language Step By Step, for Linux” ↗you can: http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Turbo-Assembler-Tom-Swan/dp/... The cover looks familiar. Maybe I have bought this book too back then but never got around to read. However I did read the Borland C book by him: http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Swans-Mastering-Borland-Swan/dp/06...
on “Assembly Language Step By Step, for Linux” ↗I liked this book for TASM. However, it's pretty much outdated now https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Turbo-Assembler-Tom-Swan/dp...
