…abandon Eady, meaning he followed the intent of his rule (walk away), just not the timing (30 seconds flat). If he made the same decision in less than 30 seconds, he probably would've gotten away. BTW, 'Heat 2' is pretty good, gives a lot of backstory as well as current-story, mostly about Chris: https://www.amazon.com/Heat-2-Novel-Michael-Mann/dp/00626533...

Heat, Ronin and the Ocean's series are the trinity of heist movies. "For me the sun rises and sets with her, man." For any Heat fans reading this comment, Michael Mann co-wrote a novel, Heat 2, that focuses on his character, and the entire time I was reading it I imagined it being Val the entire time. It's very good - a worthy follow-up.

…"The Long Run" from Daniel Keys Moran (one of the very short list of books I've re-read, and this was #4 or #5). "Were you taught to hate Peaceforcers?" "Taught? No." The only new book that I read was "Heat 2" by Michael Mann and Meg Gardiner. It was "ok". It honestly felt like a mashup of "Heat", "Miami Vice", and "Blackhat". So, not as fresh as I would have liked. (Mind, I really like all of those movies.)…

  • One of my favorite movies. Mann recently wrote a novelized sequel, "Heat 2", and has said it's his next film project. I read the book and am, let's say, not optimistic about the prospects for the film version. I hope he proves me wrong.
