…also: Huperzine-A, Vinpocetine, Phosphatidyl Serine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Ginko, Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Taurine, Magnesium. There's a list of them in the book 'The Brain Trust Program', also Ray Kurzweil's 'Fantastic Voyage'.
on “Nootropics: their effects, their risks, and where to get them” ↗I would encourage you to read further on nutrition, particularly in books like Grossman and Kurzweil's books (Fantastic Voyage and Transcend), as well as Tim Ferriss's 4Hr body (which discusses a case of someone losing weight by changing the timing of their food consumption). Not all calories are equal. Starting off the day…
on “Why I'm Eating Dinner for Breakfast” ↗You may have heard of Ray Kurzweil, who's very involved with the singularity theory of technology. I read a book of his that is co-authored with Dr. Terry Grossman called "Fantastic Voyage." If you take the time to read this book, it gives many eating choices along with supplement suggestions for excellent mental and physical health. It's definitely worth the read.
on “How I Overcame Bipolar II (and Saved My Own Life)” ↗…bit about sugar, and feeling better - that's become more accepted, that sugar is just bad for you. We didn't evolve with so much of it. It does bad things hormonally over the long run. See Kurzweil's 'Fantastic Voyage' or Shallenberger's 'Diabetes Breakthrough' for specifics.
on “Why I Gave Up Desserts To Become a Better Entrepreneur” ↗I liked "Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever" by Ray Kurzweil. Arthur De Vany's evolutionary fitness essay is also very good: www.arthurdevany.com/webstuff/RevisedEssay.pdf

The same study found that aerobic fitness had a far more important impact on longevity than obesity did. Fantastic Voyage, Kurzweil and Grossman, Chapter 22. Here's a report on a study that monitored over 100,000 people: Paul Williams, Ph.D., author of the study, found that men who ran two or more marathons per year were…

The same study found that aerobic fitness had a far more important impact on longevity than obesity did. This was cited in Fantastic Voyage, Kurzweil and Grossman, Chapter 22. Another 100,000+ person study found that men who ran two or more marathons per year were 41 percent less likely to suffer from high blood pressure, 32 percent less…

on “Run an Ultramarathon” ↗I wouldn't be surprised (I've read enough of Kurzweil's Fantastic Voyage for a friend to impeach it WRT chemistry/biochemistry), perhaps because I pay attention to Vernor Vinge and company on the concept: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity#Histo...
on “A moderate view on why Kurzweil, Brin, Page, and Gates are all wrong” ↗That’s the core principal of Ray Kurzweil and Terry Grossman’s book, “Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantastic_Voyage:_Live_Long_En...
on “We regret to inform you that your choice of Deathday is no longer available” ↗…Exercise is about the only proven way to slow IQ decline with age, something you'd think he would value highly, and it appears he doesn't do that either. Why not? Compare with Ray Kurzweil and his book "the Fantastic Voyage - live long enough to live forever"[4], he has been partnering with a doctor for decades studying body biochemistry and interventions to improve his health and increase his life expectancy - and doing…
on “What ever happened to the first cryogenically frozen humans?” ↗…sci-fi story of all time?" and the answers will vary (though Asimov is a likely choice). Ask "Who is the most prolific sci-fi writer of all time?" and, and you'll hear Asimov. Also, I'd have added The Fantastic Voyage to the list. That has a movie.
