Caroline Sanford, a newspaper owner from Washington, D.C., struggles to gain power and respect in a male dominated industry, in this prodigiously detailed portrait of the United States as it begins to emerge as a world power at the dawn of the twentieth century.

…"The price of one bona fide, registered American vote varies from place to place. But it is rarely more than a tank of gas." A good book that descibes it is "Washington, D.C: A Novel (Narratives of Empire)." of Gore Vidal.
on “Operation Serenata de Amor – An AI project to analyze public spending in Brazil” ↗…whole historical fiction genre. The rest of the books in Clavell's Asian Saga are pretty good too except for maybe Gai-jin. I also enjoyed reading Gore Vidal's Lincoln and Burr from his Narratives of the Empire series - very entertaining and definitely not run-of-the-mill biographic portrayals.
