on “What is the single most influential book every programmer should read?” ↗_Do More Faster_ by Techstars founders Brad Feld and David Cohen (Apologies to OP's request for brevity; there's just a lot of good stuff that I'd like to share.) A must read for anyone here who is serious about their…
on “Ask HN: Best book you read in 2010 and briefly why” ↗…books to add as well: 4. "How to Get Rich" (Dennis) http://amzn.to/5s0Z02 - Not your typical get-rich-quick book. This book is all about the hard work and sacrifice it takes to accomplish your goal. 5. "Do More Faster" (Feld & Cohen) http://amzn.to/culsRy - Was recommended by a friend, this is probably the next best thing to doing TechStars or YC without actually being there.
on “Ask HN: Hacker to Hobbyist to Entrepreneur? ” ↗…about OP's awakening as he talked to some of the Techstars mentors, I kept thinking, "Haven't I heard this somewhere before?" Then I realized that I got many of the same feelings from reading the book _Do More Faster_ by Techstars founders David Cohen and Brad Feld. This is a collection of essays by Techstars mentors and founders sharing their experiences. I imagine that OP could have gotten a lot of perspective…

on “Ask HN: Must Read Books” ↗Surprised no one mentioned these.. Do more faster Ultralight startups
on “Ask HN : What are some great books an aspiring entrepreneur should read?” ↗"Do more faster" by David cohen and Brad feld. A must have book.
on “Ask HN: 'Must read' books” ↗…of this would be happening. I went through this with co-founders recently. It was unpleasant and expensive, but at least everyone knows where we stand w/r/t leaving, vesting, etc. This excerpt from Do More Faster is worth reading: "A common reason for startup fatalities, particularly in the early days, is some sort of conflict between co-founders. One of the main reasons for co-founder conflict is that many aspects…
on “Jeremy Guillory's Counter-Complaint against Cruise Automation” ↗I just read their new book, "Do More Faster". To get a little better feel for what TechStars is like, I strongly recommend it. (Read it anyway, whether you're interested in TechStars or not.) My comments last week about their book: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1864922
on “TechStars Boston Applications Open for 2011” ↗I'll give you a selfish (and self-promotional) example. I just posted a review on HN of a really great startup book, Do More Faster: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2019914 Now if 5 or 6 of you guys upvote it in the "golden hour" -- the initial hour after entry -- it hits the front page and 20x more people see it, creating a…
on “iPod nano Watch Project Makes Kickstarter History” ↗I loved reading this in Do More Faster but I preferred the original chapter title: "Usage is like oxygen for ideas." If you enjoyed this post, the book is full of similar goodness. This was the best though :) Nice job, photomatt!
on “1.0 Is The Loneliest Number” ↗I respectfully disagree. I find Gladwell's books to be somewhat unsubstantial. Instead I would recommend that you read Steve Blank's "4 Steps To The Epiphany." Also, I picked up "Do More Faster" recently on recommendation from a previous thread, which I found fascinating. There's some great advice within both books.
on “Ask HN: What are the best books on startups?” ↗Definitely agree with "Do More Faster." Great book with excellent advice. I also recommend "Startup Lessons Learned"
on “Ask HN: What are the best books on startups?” ↗I've never been through either of them, but the stylistic differences highlighted in the article very much so reminded me of the difference in style between "Do More Faster: Techstars" and "Hackers and Painters." IMHO Hackers and Painters is a bit weird and subtle at times, but overall a beautiful piece of work that triggers inspiration from within (at least in my case).…
on “All accelerator programs are not the same” ↗You could also read 'Do More Faster' by the same authors as this VC book. I've read that one and it's solid.
