…having non-monospaced font in a paper or book is a signal that the contents are "too academic" to be of practical use. This is a very weak signal though - for example, Sally Goldman's excellent book "A Practical Guide to Data Structures and Algorithms using Java"[2] has pages and pages of useful Java code in non-monospaced font. Also, for practicing programers, studying data structures is more important than algorithms. I often refer to Sally Goldman's book A Practical Guide to Data Structures and Algorithms Using Java for this.
on “A Comparison of Four Algorithms Textbooks (2016)” ↗I was reminded slightly of the taxonomy of abstract data types (as opposed to data structures) that appears in Sally Goldman's A Practical Guide to Data Structures and Algorithms using Java: https://books.google.com/books?id=xT8qBgAAQBAJ&lpg=PP1&dq=A%...
